The Akron First UMC is passionately committed to reaching our community for Jesus Christ. Our Reaching Team takes seriously the mandate of Acts 1:8 where Jesus told his disciples that they would be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. This gradually broadening view of reaching is one we adopt as well. At the farthest reaches we are proud of our denominational missions and organizations like the United Methodist Committee on Relief which take the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Within our own region we support ministries through our denominational bodies as well as partner with organizations in Buffalo and throughout WNY. Right here in our own community we are constantly broadening our reaching efforts, especially through ministries that take place in our C. Dee Wright Community Ministry Center Building.

Through the addition of our ministry building we are able now to offer a homeless family ministry, community education classes, music lessons, a GED program, an AA group, scouting, counseling, support of a local food pantry, and several other community outreach endeavors.
